Home of the Arizona Diamondbacks and located in the center of downtown Phoenix, Duane Hunn served as Project Manager of the first phase of design and construction on this high-profile project. The project came with several challenges including a very tight schedule, moving fourteen city blocks out of the way, relocation of large primary utilities and storm drain. Significant challenges included the need to maintain operations on the two mainline tracks of the primary railway into and out of Phoenix running through the site while installing a relocated 84” storm drain beneath them and coordinating the relocation of the primary Jet fuel line to Sky Harbor Airport during the busy Thanksgiving holiday travel season. Another challenge was the reconstruction of Jefferson Street in front of the new stadium, a major roadway utilized for the outbound afternoon commute leaving downtown Phoenix. To overcome these challenges, Mr. Hunn worked directly with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Maricopa County Stadium District in addition to coordinating multiple City of Phoenix departments and other affected agencies in a collaborative approach that earned him high praise from the new Diamondbacks managers. Design and construction crews operated 24 hours a day to overcome the timing constraints and helped to deliver this iconic Phoenix facility on schedule.
